Interaction skills

Expressing “I want,” “I need,” or “I like” goes beyond a simple phrase: it's an affirmation of identity and autonomy. We teach children to communicate their desires and preferences, whether through verbal language, gestures, or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. Because having a voice, whatever it may be, will transform their lives.

When a child learns to express their wants, needs, or preferences, they are asserting who they are. We encourage them to express their preferences through words, gestures, or alternative supports, giving them the opportunity to be heard and acknowledged. Having a voice, in any form, opens doors to a more autonomous and meaningful life.
